[Bucky mostly keeps out of the way of both Steves, but something worrying is happening in Riverview at the moment, people losing huge chunks of their memories... obviously that hits pretty hard, even if he doesn't seem to be personally affected. It makes him up his watch on both Steves, though, to make sure they're okay as well.
Which might be why Steve could possibly catch a glimpse of a stalker every so often throughout the day, hiding on rooftops or down alleyways, but always within sight.]
[ Steve has been feeling out of sorts recently, but he hasn't been able to pinpoint why. He knows that something is off, lacking, and he's wandering around the city with far less purpose than his usual runs. He at least notices the shadow that seems to be stalking him. After barely catching movement out of the corner of his eye for the fifth time, Steve takes off, bolting like he's being charged by a Tyrannosaurus and thinks he can duck down streets to get away. ]
Well, it's obvious that he's been spotted, so now he has the choice between letting Steve run off or chasing him. It's only because of how different he's seemed today that he chooses the latter, going for an all our sprint of his own.]
[ Steve is ready to hope some alleyway fences when he hears Bucky call out. He was going to give his stalker a work out, see what they wanted after forcing them to keep up, but the fact that it turns out to be Bucky and not an enemy trying to spy or attack him makes Steve slow to a stop and turn back, surprised. He walks toward the other man, until he's close enough to talk. ]
[He thought something was genuinely wrong, and now he's annoyed at himself for overreacting and revealing himself instead of continuing to tail from a distance.]
[ Steve frowns, showing some doubt now that Bucky has pointed that out to him. He doesn't feel weird, not really, but at this point he would probably be at least slightly offended. Instead, he's thrown. ]
All day? I haven't really done anything all day. It's been... kind of quiet.
[ He has no idea that this might have something to do with his own behavior. ]
[ Steve frowns at the question, because it means that Bucky must think he's had some kind of head injury or spell put on him -- or that he's not himself. He looks serious, ready to prove that he's not an imposter. ]
I know who I am. My name is Steve Rogers. I came through that crazy portal that brought us here from Earth and now I'm on this world's moon. I feel fine, just-
[ There is something strange. He can't place what it is. ]
[Now he feels doubly stupid, Steve is obviously okay and he's been overreacting over nothing. He looks as though he's pretty close to running away, before Steve figures out this means Bucky was worried and, no matter what he might say, that means he cares.]
There's a lotta people behaving differently, you don't usually walk without purpose.
[ Steve apparently passes the test, which is good, but he has to believe that there was something wrong in the first place. Bucky isn't the type to act without reason, and while he is surprised to hear the man admit to have watched him, he's not ready to push him on it. In fact, it's reassuring to know that Bucky has been looking out for him and that he's around. In another conversation, Steve would probably thank him. ]
I don't feel different, but that doesn't mean everything is okay. What have you seen from others? Have you talked to anyone else personally?
[Which probably makes it very evident why he's taking such an interest in it, this sort of thing is a big red button for him. He hates that this place has messed with his head once already, he doesn't need it to do it again.]
[ Amnesia triggers alarm in Steve for the same reason it concerns Bucky. He tenses, frowning as he tries to think back to important memories, wondering if he's really missing something and if he would notice if he is. ]
I don't know why I ran. I didn't want anyone else to be involved if this was a fight, but at the time I didn't think of holding still.
[He doesn't know this Steve as well as his own, and he would be much less likely to notice very small differences. But he knows where he is and who he is, so that's all a good sign.]
You talked to your-- to the other me recently? He'd know.
[ Steve frowns, wondering if there would be a way to test memory loss if he doesn't feel the loss. It would be different if he were aware of some feeling he could use to pinpoint the issue. ]
Bucky and Tony know me, but I don't know if they'd be able to find what I'm missing, if anything. If it were obvious, I think you could have noticed it. Not like I have all that many secrets.
You should still go and talk to them both to try and make certain.
[Even if it's not a foolproof plan, if those two know Steve and his history the best out of anyone here, then they're most likely to notice if he's missing something.]
[Well, that certainly doesn't give him much encouragement, but it's also pretty much as Bucky as Steve can expect. He almost smiles, even though he knows the man wouldn't appreciate it.]
Thank you for worrying about me. You don't have to, and I'm glad you did.
